FOUND IN MARILYN (2021)
Artwork is based on the iconic nude photograph of Marilyn Monroe published in the very first edition of Playboy magazine in December 1953. In the photo, we hardly see Marilyn’s face, but we clearly see her naked body, it’s curved lines and compositions. And basing on the theory of Found Faces, we start to read her entire body as a single face. It is also interesting that instinctive excitement from an erotic photo occurs regardless of the face that is recognized in the composition of the body. And that recognized face itself appears without gender. An example of such recognition has been identified and captured in my work.
